Electronic Identification
Electronic identification by RFID eartags is a cost effective way of identifying individual cows and using that information in the milking parlor to register milk yield, apply individual feeding and for herd management. The electronic eartag is applied the same way as a traditional eartag, where the female part is the electronic disc. When the cow shows up at the milking parlor or at a feeding station or sort gate, the curtain antenna picks up the signal from the tag and sends it to the MPC. The MPC signals to the milk reader or the feeding station or the sort gate which action to take for that cow. In case of the milk reader information about the cow gathered during milking is sent back to the MPC.
